Field Installation Technician

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade(s): 10-11($33.29+ DOE)
Purpose: The Field Installation Technician will support Tidal Network customers by installing equipment, running cable, mounting hardware, and providing basic training on using home internet services. This includes field installation, customer support in person and by phone, and occasional troubleshooting of home networks.
Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
Install and configure customer premises equipment (CPE), including running cable, mounting antennas, and modifying residential and commercial structures as needed.
Safely operate ladders, power tools, company vehicles, and other construction equipment to complete installations.
Perform site surveys and document installation details
Provide customers with a walk-through of their new service and answer basic usage questions
Trouble shoot and respond to inquiries via phone, email, in-person, or through remote access
Record events, problems, and their solutions
Perform routine user account administration
Maintain accurate records of installations, inventory, equipment, and customer interactions
Follow and contribute to installation guides and support documentation
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures or willingness to learn
Knowledge of hand and power tools
Ability to follow safety protocols and training
Comfort working at heights, with fall protection, and outdoors
Good communication skills for customer interaction
Adaptability and problem-solving in field conditions
Basic knowledge of computer systems, mobile devices, and other technology products
Ability to diagnose and resolve baisc technicial issues or willingness to learn
Ability to read, understand, and apply information in technical manuals and journals
Ability to travel out of town occasionally to support customers and to attend training
Able to work independently
Adaptability
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Familiar with internet and WiFi networks
Ability to provide training and information in group settings
Documentation skills
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two (2) Four (4) years of related experience OR demonstrated hands-on ability through work, volunteer, or training programs
Experience with hand tools and power tools
Ability to safely work on ladders, roofs, and in varied weather conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions
Willingness to travel for projects across Alaska
Must be 21 years of age with a Valid Alaska Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
Related experience in electrical, telecommunications, low-voltage installation, or cable/fiber installation
Related experience in construction, carpentry, or general contracting
Familiarity with basic networking (WiFi routers, simple troubleshooting) a plus
