POSITION DESCRIPTION
Engagement Specialist
Location: Juneau
Exemption Status: Non- Exempt
Pay Grade(s): 9 ($29.66 - 38.69 DOE)
Reports To: Sr. Director, Strategic Partnerships & Advancement
Purpose: The Engagement Specialist supports the planning, implementation, and management of a donor engagement program for the Tribe. The Engagement Specialist is eager to learn new skills and help transfer that knowledge to enhance best practice donor resources for the Tribe. This position works collaboratively with team members to advance the goals of the department and will play a vital role in building and maintaining relationships to support the Tribes mission to preserve our sovereignty, enhance our economic and cultural resources, and promote self-sufficiency and self-governance for our citizens.
Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
Support the planning, implementation, and management of a donor engagement program.
Research potential funding and outreach opportunities.
Develop and manage a plan for outreach engagement, to include social media channels.
Draft content for event invitations, social media posts, and webpage updates.
Partner with Communications on creative design and other publications as needed.
Track and report on outreach efforts, digital content performance, and other key objectives.
Support in planning, organizing, and executing special events such as merchandise orders, registration, and travel management.
Coordinate logistics for supporters and potential partners visits with the Tribe.
Manage sensitive and confidential matters with a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.
Organize and maintain accurate donor record files.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:
Demonstrated track record of in-person and virtual event support, digital communications and marketing, and administrative support.
Excellent customer service skills: demonstrated track record of follow through, and personalized response, and resolution of issues.
Ability to represent the Tribe in the community by attending events and social gatherings as needed.
Strong organizational skills: ability to work both independently and as part of a team on a variety of projects simultaneously, manage his/her time effectively to meet deadlines, and gracefully navigate competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills: ability to exercise diplomacy, gather information from others and synthesize information, and provide clear written or verbal communication to internal and external partners.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records.
Familiarity with Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures.
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
Associates degree; Equivalent experience may be substituted.
Experience in donor relations, fundraising, or comparable experience in a customer-service setting.
Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
Bachelors degree in related field.

Some travel may be required on small aircraft or ferry.
Certain positions at Tlingit and Haida may have exposure to certain hazardous materials or conditions. The supervisor will review these if applicable.
