Mailroom Technician

Salary Grade(s): G- 7/8 ($24.52 - $35.20 DOE)
Hours of Work: M-F, 8:00 am 4:30 pm
Employment Category: Regular, Full-Time
PURPOSE
The Mailroom Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the mailroom. This includes handling all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and interdepartmental mail for the Tribe in an efficient manner to ensure timely delivery.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Mailroom Coordinator
Supervises: N/A
Liaison To: Procurement warehouse and inventory manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Pick up and sign for mail and packages from the United States Postal Service (USPS) daily
Sort mail by department Daily pick-up and delivery to each department
Post and deliver all outgoing mail to the USPS at the end of each day
Determine best mailing options for each situation (cost vs time)
Maintain electronic logs and filing systems (Microsoft Word, Excel)
Keep track of and order/purchase mailroom inventory as needed
Conduct pre-trip safety inspections on vehicles (maintain logs)
Ensure vehicles are clean inside and out (hold self and others to T&H standards)
Receive and deliver parcels received from USPS, UPS and FedEx using our SendSuite Tracking System to maintain chain of custody records
Pick-up/Drop off packages from Seaplanes, AK Air Cargo and AML
Communicate with departments by phone, TEAMS and/or Email regarding pick-up/delivery times as necessary
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks
Assist Warehouse/Inventory personnel as needed
Maintain excellent working relations and provide professional customer service to all T&H departments
Other duties as assigned

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Familiar with postage meters and handling mail
Well-organized, sharp attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure in a team environment while meeting deadlines
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Professional customer service
Able to handle packages up to 70 lbs
Ability to maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
High School Diploma
6 months experience handling/sorting/delivering mail/packages
Valid Drivers License
Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
High School Diploma
1 year experience handling/sorting/delivering mail/packages
Valid Drivers License
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
Incumbent will be performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials up to 70 lbs.
