CBS Caseworker

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade(s): 9-10 ($30.26+ DOE/Hourly)

Purpose: The CBS Caseworker will provide case management to tribal citizens and participants referred to the CBS Healing Center. The incumbent will make referrals, coordinate, and link participants within Tlingit & Haida interdepartmental and interagency coordination to meet their needs. Priorities will include advocating for healing and wellness and monitoring progress.

Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Collect intake documents.
  • Work directly with CBS Healing Center providers (e.g., clinicians, behavioral health aides, and contractors) to provide direct services.
  • Coordinate professional case management by linking, planning, advocacy, and monitoring treatment of program participants.
  • Responsible for interdepartmental and interagency coordination of services.
  • Participate in case staffing reviews for participants.
  • Responsible for working with referrals from departments across Tlingit & Haida.
  • Responsible for learning about potential referral programs.
  • Maintain case records and meet all reporting requirements timely and thoroughly within electronic record keeping system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:

  • Experience within the social services or related systems.
  • Knowledge of ethical considerations of helping professions.
  • Knowledge of all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to abide by the basic regulations, operating policies and procedures regarding Behavioral Services and CBS Healing Center.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, complete case files.
  • Sufficient prioritization and time management.
  • Ability to collaborate, coordinate, implement, and advocate for youth, adults, families, and community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, ability to relate well.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including occasional evening activities).
  • Commitment to self-care.
  • Understanding of the Tribe's mission and culture and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances.
  • Must protect and maintain confidentiality of program participants.

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):

  • Associate Degree in related field.
  • Three (3) years' related experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age and have a valid Driver's License.
  • Substitution for degree: High School diploma or GED, and two (2) years of experience as a caseworker or closely related field on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in field of Social Work, Public Health, or related field.

  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs.

  • Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
  • Certain positions at Tlingit & Haida may have exposure to certain hazardous materials or conditions. The supervisor will review these if applicable.
