PURPOSE
Reside in the Non-Congregate Shelter for female and provide a stable presence throughout the night in support of participants. Act as a mentor and assist participants as necessary. Volunteer will receive no-cost housing for the duration of the period of service to carry out volunteer duties at the non-congregate shelter facility. A stipend of $400 can be earned monthly after the first month of service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reside in the non-congregate shelter facility and be present from:
o Daily 9pm-6am
o **unless previous arrangements have been made with the appropriate department staff
Complete and record shelter curfew checks at 10:00 pm
In case of an emergency, notify the appropriate authorities and department staff.
Be responsive to incoming calls, texts, or emails from your supervisor. Check emails daily and respond within 24 hours.
Establish and maintain relationships with the participants and be welcoming of new participants.
Collaborate with non-congregate shelter staff regarding chore assignments and programming calendars.
Preserve confidentiality of all participants, staff, and volunteers
Maintain a commitment to recovery, participant empowerment, and the ability to support participants.
Participate and eventually host various house meetings. This can range from relapse of a participant, dismissal from the program, not following rules, etc.
Complete bi-weekly room inspections and submit paperwork to the supervisor within 24 hours.
Complete inspection (except on Participant days off) of daily chores at the designated time set with you and your supervisor.
Ensure Participants follow all rules of the Congregate shelter.
Complete weekly drug screens for all participants as needed per phase.
Attend the bi-weekly house meal at the location you supervise.
Other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to read and interpret procedures to make conclusions and decisions.
Knowledge of reentry and recovery pathways
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Ability to practice tact, courtesy, and discretion.
Must be capable of handling unexpected situations or conflict with tact and professionalism.
Familiarity with Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Must be capable of handling unexpected situations or conflict with tact and professionalism.
CPR/First Aide, NARCAN training either before hire date or within 1 month.
