Accounts Payable Manager
Department: Finance

Pay Grade(s): 12-14
Purpose: Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Payable, Travel Accounts, and Credit Card Accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards. This position also requires a strong leadership presence to guide, develop, and support a team of accounting professionals.
Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
• Supervise the accounts payable (AP) team, credit card accounting team, and travel accounting team to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Review and approve AP transactions, reconciliations, and travel expense reports for accuracy and budget compliance.
• Manage vendor relationships, resolve billing issues, address credit card statement problems, assist with compliance audits, and ensure accurate transaction recording per company policies.
• Lead and mentor accounts payable, travel, and credit card teams to enhance performance through regular evaluations, feedback, and individual development support.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports on accounts payable, travel expenses, and credit card activity; analyze financial trends and discrepancies for senior management; assist with year-end audits and financial statements.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, focusing on automating and improving process efficiency.
• Ensures compliance with IRS 1099 requirements and other IRS rules.
• Manages unclaimed property functions including research/due diligence, stale dated checks & reporting, and annual filings in accordance with state filing guidelines.
• Assists with month end close and annual audit preparation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, travel expense accounting, and credit card reconciliation.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a focus on team development.
• Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Five (5) + years of accounting experience.
• Two (2) years supervisory experience.
